This study delves into the behaviors of Facebook users in their pursuit of achieving a balance between perceptions of warmth and competence when sharing news stories, employing the stereotype content model to understand their impression management strategies. The research reveals that users consistently sharing multiple news stories that exhibit competence are more likely to subsequently share warm news stories compared to those who share only one story. Notably, users demonstrating a prevention focus exhibit a greater tendency to share warm news compared to those with a promotion focus. This suggests an interaction effect between the number of competent news stories shared and the regulatory focus on the inclination to share warm news stories. The study holds significant theoretical implications for SNS users' strategies in managing their impressions and practical insights into news sharing behaviors on SNS platforms.
