Genetic testing and related information are becoming increasingly common in everyday life, especially in clinical settings in Korea. In order to effectively communicate this information to patients, it is essential to understand a patient's level of genomic health literacy. People with low genomic health literacy may experience negative health outcomes and healthcare inequities. Therefore, there is a need for genomic health literacy measurement tools aimed at helping patients make informed and appropriate healthcare decisions and effective doctor-patient communication. Overseas, various scales have been developed since the late 90s to assess patients' knowledge and understanding of genome-related information. However, there is still a lack of research and measurement tools to assess genomic health literacy in Korea. This study aims to develop a genomic medical literacy measurement tool to facilitate doctor-patient communication of genome-related information and improve patient outcomes.
