This study was undertaken to investigate the relationship between fairness perception and happiness in Korean society and the effects of generational divisions on these relationships. Data from the 2022 Public Opinion Online Survey on Inequality and Fairness were analyzed using multiple linear regression models. Fairness perception was used as the independent variable, and four types of generation divisions (Baby Boom, Generation X, Generation M, and Generation Z) were used as moderating variables. Results showed a significant association between fairness perception and happiness. Generation Z demonstrated a significant increase in happiness as fairness perception increased, for both male and female samples as well as the overall sample. In the female sample, the interaction term between fairness perception and Generation M was also found to be significant. These findings suggest that fairness perception should be considered important when resolving intergenerational conflicts and developing public policies.
