This study aims to reveal the process of changing spaces by comparing and analyzing 8 regional representative libraries that have been opened in Korea and 11 Bibliothèque Municipales à Vocation Régionale (BMVR) in France, and to derive differences in space composition and characteristics. Based on the area ratio data of a total of 19 cases, the spatial composition system and the area ratio were compared and analyzed according to the criteria by period and size. For the analysis, the spatial composition system was classified into four areas: reading area, cultural education area, work management area, and common area. First of all, there was no significant change in the area of each area regardless of the time and size of BMVR in France, and the data reading area and work management area consistently accounted for the priority. Second, the common change seen in the two countries is that the larger the total area, the greater the data reading area, and the remarkable difference is the work management area. As a result, this study is meaningful in that it can predict changes in information society facilities and provides an effective direction for understanding today's libraries.
