This paper considers the changes and demands of the times that the wartime propaganda magazine Weekly Shoukokumin sent to postwar Japanese children, that is, the postwar image. After the defeat, Weekly Shoukokumin accepted the emperor’s declaration of the end of the war as a sacred decision for the people and sent out discourses that obscured the nature of the war, such as the issue of war responsibility and the war of aggression. On the other hand, the image of the war victims followed one aspect of wartime propaganda by emphasizing it. Additionally, Weekly Shoukokumin sought to change the image of the occupying forces and change the view of war in order to perform the national task of building a new Japan. In short, it can be said that the magazine Weekly Shoukokumin established a national policy for postwar child readers.
