We studied the use of the conjectural expression Souda, Youda, Mitaida and Rashi in the written language. The analysis focused on the sentence’s form, meaning, usage, and the predicate part of speech and its position (predicate/non-predicate) in the sentence. In addition, we studied the usage aspects of these inferred expressions of general Japanese native speakers and compared them with the analysis results in spoken language. Based on the analysis results, we proposed a teaching strategy for these inferred expressions.
