Korea is expected to enter a super-aged society in 2025 due to the continuous increase in the aging population after 2020. Recently, as non-face-to-face online transactions have been activated and direct interactions have been minimized due to the pandemic situation, the Internet has become an important means of economic activity. As a result, the online consumption of the senior generation has surged. On the other hand, most mobile applications are currently concentrated on relatively low-age user-centered design structures, so design development studies reflecting the needs of seniors are not active. Therefore, this study tried to derive mobile usability problems through usability evaluation and comparative analysis focusing on Homeplus and E-Mart Mall applications, and to suggest mobile application user interface guidelines considering the characteristics and needs of the senior generation. As a research method, first, user behavior was identified and problems were derived through task execution. Second, usability analysis was conducted by substituting the evaluation method using Peter Moville honeycomb model into each of the six elements. As a result of usability analysis, the highest type in Homeplus was useful, and E-Mart Mall was found to be searchable. In both applications, the lowest type was usability, and there were problems with the purchase process and the readability of the overall icon and text size and thickness of mobile devices. Through the results of this study, a specialized mobile application UX guide was proposed to increase the recognition and readability of functions in consideration of senior user needs and visual characteristics through identification of mobile application problems and usability evaluation. In future studies, it is expected that experimental research and evaluation will be conducted based on the design that improves the problems derived from usability evaluation to present basic guidelines for senior generations.
