Shanghai City was the center of China's modern industrial industry, but in the late 20th century, large amounts of industrial buildings were neglected or demolished as they changed into new industrial structures. Recently, with the enactment of the Chinese government's industrial heritage policy, a conversion design that preserves and utilizes industrial heritage has been carried out in parallel. The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate the converted cultural industrial complex after grasping the industrial heritage and characteristics of the cultural industry in Shanghai. The research method is as follows.
First, the concept of cultural industrial complex regeneration and conversion design of industrial heritage was defined by examining the literature. It understands the characteristics of the conversion design expression of the cultural industrial complex that regenerated the industrial heritage. Second, the case is investigated by limiting the scope of the study to the cultural industrial complex to which the conversion design expression characteristics are applied. Third, based on theoretical considerations and case studies, cases are analyzed through the spatial composition of cultural industrial complexes and the expression characteristics of convergence designs. The conclusion is as follows. It preserves the structure and appearance of the building to preserve its value as an industrial heritage itself, and coexistence with the surroundings is important for internal spaces centered on commercial spaces. In addition, it should be regenerated as a cultural industrial complex that develops by highlighting historical value through high indoor openness and accessibility around it.
