Nonsan Jonghakdang is a representative Confucian elementary educational institution in the late Joseon Dynasty and is a typical Seodang architecture consisting of auditorium, dormitory, pavilions, and Buddhist hermitage. Currently, Jonghakdang is designated as a provincial cultural property in Chungcheongnam-do, but close architectural research and research on the cultural value of Jonghakdang are insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of Jonghakdang's village school architecture and its value as a cultural heritage for promotion of national cultural properties. As a result of the study, Jonghakdang has an architectural drawing of the late Joseon Dynasty consisting of oblique drawings and Gangado(間架圖, floor plan) called Ogabaekrok(吾家白鹿), and the architecture of the early days remains, so it can be found through comparison and analysis with 59 Seodang architectures designated as cultural assets. However, the fact that the current Jonghakdang has been restored differently in the size of the architecture expressed in the Ogabaekrok can raise the issue of authenticity of cultural heritage. In addition, since Naesammun Gate and Hongsalmun Gate were not used in educational institutions without shrines, it is necessary to solve the problem.
