This study was conducted to consider the need for the construction of museum shared storage, reflecting the increase of collections in museum and to set up the process of volume estimate and method. We analyzed the type, occupancy rate and state of museum storage which are classified by required temperature and humidity condition of materials. For this research, we surveyed museum storage condition of 4 main museum and 21 branch museum in Seoul and the nationally attributed buried cultural properties. And we found the priority of museum storage extension, museum storage capacity of items and occupancy rate. Based on this basic survey, it could be necessary to figure out the more detail for the saturation, type, and rate of museum storage according to the material classification.
