This study analyzed the characteristics of the main characters inSummer in 1945,who are Koreans in Japan, to understand how their lifestyles and identities are changing. The features are summarized as follows.
First, there is a character type of Koreans in Japan who cooperate with Japan to live in Japan during the colonial period. Through these people riding on the bandwagon, the author expressed the image of Koreans in Japan who had no choice but to live cooperatively with Japan in the post-liberation Koreans in Japan society.
On the other hand, there were types of people who did not want to lose their ethnic color even while living in Japan. The main character, Kim Tae-jo, is a representative nationalist, a figure that reflects the artist's youthful appearance. Summer in 1945can be said to be a work that can understand the motive for writing the Jeju 4․3 literature, which the author has worked hard on throughout his life.
