The graphic design of Soviet Russia accepted in the graphic design of colonial Joseon in the 1920s and 1930s can be found on the covers of several magazines and books published under the strict censorship system called the prior permission system which was different from Japan. An early example of Russian constructivism graphic design accepted mainly via Japan can be found in KIM Bok-jin’s 『Literary Movement』(1926), and after the late 1920s, it had characteristics as a propaganda medium that propagated communism. In the early days, there was a strong tendency to imitate, but symbols such as a red star or sickle were used to propagate communism and suggest a future image of communism. As seen in the case of using a red sickle that makes a strong impact on the cover of 『Popular Public Theory』 designed by AHN Seok-ju, there is an example that sometimes contains a bold message of resistance based on the class consciousness of the proletarians such as peasants and workers. There were also the cases with montage technique that combined photography and graphics, as in 『Public Opinion of the Age』 designed by CHU Min. In particular, by using the montage technique using photos, an ideological illusion was induced, which was mistaken for a real scene even though it was a manipulated scene. This characteristic, which can be mainly confirmed in the graphic design of KAPF activists, was one of the methods of responding to the strict censorship system and monitoring and oppression. In that sense, it can be evaluated that the fact that Kang Ho, who was one of the activists at the time, focused on graphic design in his retrospective, is consistent with the facts to a large extent.
