그리고 전문가 그룹에 의한 AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) 분석을 통해 각 유형의 적합성을 비교분석하였다.
Background : In autonomous driving situation of the SAE level 3, the request that the vehicle sends to the driver to switch back the control of the vehicle is referred to as "Take-over Request". The Take-over Request will be an important factor influencing the user experience in the autonomous vehicle, and it is also expected to influence on the interior design of the vehicle depending on which interface is used. When the driver does not monitor the driving situation, it is highly dependent on auditory channel as a multi-modality to compensate for the vision. In this case, it is necessary to provide a multimodal take-over request using an non-auditory interface for universal user experience in vehicle for hearing impaired drivers.
Methods : In this study, based on a literature study, alternative interface types were analyzed through the case study of global automaker's near-future autonomous driving scenarios. And the suitability of each type were analyzed through the AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) analysis by an expert group.
Result : 'Reliability' was found to be the most important evaluation criterion for alternative interface types. In addition, 'Economy' was evaluated as more important than 'Usefulness' or 'Satisfaction' in order to be widely distributed. Among the alternative interface types, the LED lighting display was highly evaluated when weight factors are multiplied. The LED lighting display was evaluated as being suitable for universal distribution to various vehicle types.
Conclusion : In the studies on the multi-modality take-over request in autonomous vehicles, the weight has been highly focused on auditory channel. However, for hearing impaired drivers who cannot use the auditory channel, a study on take-over request using an alternative modality is needed in terms of universal user experience. This study is meaningful in that it sought a universal user experience in vehicle for hearing impaired drivers by searching for alternative interfaces using non-auditory modality and analyzing their suitability.
