최근 들어 ‘핫 플레이스’라는 단어가 일상 속에서 흔하게 사용되어지고 있다. 이제는 일상을 넘어 학술적인 주제로도 사용되고 있는데, 선행연구 검토 결과 아직까지도 핫 플레이스 용어에 대한 명확한 고찰이 부재한 채 다양한 방식으로 설명이 이루어지고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구는 첫째, 시멘틱 네트워크 분석을 이용하여 ‘핫 플레이스’라는 단어가 어떠한 의미로 인식되고 있는지 알아보고자 한다. 둘째, 단어의 등장 시점과 현재 시점에서 상징하는 의미가 어떻게 변해왔는지를 비교·분석함으로써 핫 플레이스 단어의 의미 변화를 파악하고자 한다. 연구의 범위는 국립국어원에서 처음 논의된 시기인 2013년도와 최근 시점인 2019년도로 설정하였다. 이후 빅데이터 기반의 텍스톰 프로그램을 활용하여 포털사이트 및 SNS에서 관련 키워드들을 도출하였고, 도출된 키워드를 바탕으로 텍스트 마이닝과 시멘틱 네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 핫 플레이스 용어가 과거보다 최근 들어 더 활발하게 사용되고 있으며 사람들의 SNS 활용을 통하여 더욱 활성화되고 있다는 점과 국외 중심에서 국내 중심으로, 여행의 관점에서 일상적이고 정보지향적인 관점으로 핫 플레이스에 대한 사람들의 인식이 변모하였다는 점을 확인하였다. 또한 2013년과 2019년의 공통된 키워드 특성을 바탕으로 핫 플레이스를 “사람들이 선호하는 음식점과 매장들이 밀집되어 있으며 이에 대한 정보를 미디어나 SNS로 공유함으로써 더 많은 사람들이 방문하게 되는 지역 또는 장소”로 의미화 하였다.Recently, the word ‘hot place’ has been commonly used in everyday life. Now, it is used as an academic subject beyond everyday life, and the results of previous research have confirmed that the term is still explained in inconsistent ways without a clear consideration. Based on this background, this study aims to find out what the word ‘hot place’ means by using semantic network analysis. In addition, by comparing and analyzing how the symbolic meaning has changed between the beginning and the present of the word, this study identifies the change in the meaning of the word ‘hot place’. The scope of the study is set to 2013 when the word began to appear in the National Institute of Korean Language and the latest 2019. Hot place keywords are derived from portal sites and SNS by using the big data-based TEXTOM program. Also, text mining and CONCOR analysis are conducted based on the derived keywords. As a result, the word ‘hot place’ is being used more actively in recent years than in the past, and it is being activated through SNS, it is derived that people’s perception of the hot place has changed from the foreign-centered to the domestic-centered, from the travel point of view to the everyday and information-oriented point of view. Also, the common keywords characteristics of the common hot places in 2013 and 2019 are identified as ‘Restaurant/Store’, ‘Place/Space’, and ‘Media/SNS’. Based on those keywords, this study defines ‘hot place’ as “the area or place where restaurants/stores that people prefer are concentrated, and more people visit by sharing information about them through media or SNS”.
