I.R.I(Image Research Institute)에서 개발한 이미지 스케일에 의하여 이루어 졌다.
As the environmental topic became on the rise, because of the rapid development of technology, the words like 'Eco', 'Environment Friendly' have been becoming a major part of design paradigm of 21st Century. Domestically, that issue became the center of public interest, and the eco museums being expected as an effective public educator continuously opened by local governments. Color is considered as an important element of space that contributes to improving the audience's attention and helping communicate the messages in exhibition space.
The purpose of this research is to suggest a basic data for building 'environment-friendly image' by finding out the matching vocabularies for 'environment-friendly image', and drawing out the image vocabularies of the colors applied to the spaces of eco-museums collected by field research for color measurement under premise of idea that providing a spatial image related to the contents being exhibited is enhancing the interactive communication between the exhibit and the audience,For this study, 8 major eco-museum in Korea were chosen and field research were carried out from August, 2011 to September, 2011. To measure environmental colors, spectrophotometer(Minolta, CM-2600d) was used and measuring were proceed in those areas such as floors, walls, columns. and display cases. To analyze the color image, I.R,I Image Scale was used.
As a result, the tendency applying environmental colors imaging 'conservative', 'sophisticated', 'calm', and 'dignified' which are not related with the adjectives such as 'lively', 'clean', 'vigorous' or 'natural' indicating 'environment-friendly image' were dominant. Therefore, color scheme for future eco-museums are expected to enhance the effect of communication in exhibit spaces and audiences' chances acquiring emotional knowledge by applying the colors with environment-friendly images more lively or energetic close to the image of life.
