This study aims to investigate the moderating effects of role identification in the relationship between emotional dissonance and employee performance. The emotional dissonance influences towards positive affective delivery and breaking character. This is presented based on dramaturgical perspective and social identity theory. Employees who feel different kinds of emotions depending on display rules during a service transaction may have emotional dissonance. The results of this study show that emotional dissonance is negatively correlated to affective delivery and positively correlated to breaking characters. Also, the results present that role identification moderate positively on the association between emotional dissonance and positive affective delivery. On the other hand, it moderates negatively on the relationship between emotional dissonance andbreaking character.
