This work presents a low-cost series- fed 1-bit beam steering array antenna. The proposed array is made up of ten patch elements, with switches added to the microstrip feeding line to create periodically distributed phases for beam steering. Two rows of parallel slots on the ground are used to feed each patch antenna unit. Selecting the microstrip line feeding heading without the use of phase delay paths outcomes in a 1-bit switching patch antenna element of phase values of 0° and 180°. Three prototypes representing three array configurations show three scan angles that corresponded to the calculated desired angle with a variation of 3°. The spacing between elements is modified for better beam tilting performance. Except for the broadside prototype, the reflection coefficient of all prototypes is less than -15.5 dB. and the optimum value of gain varies between 8.52 dBi and 12.65 dBi.
