The Korean museum has a history of about 110 years, starting with the Jesil Museum, which the Japanese built-in 1907. With the rapid development of Korea's economy and culture, various museums have begun to appear. In the past, museums began as a space for one-sided communication, but the public requires modern museums as active open spaces. In addition, after Korea's big sports competitions were successfully held, the need for a space to remember sports emerged throughout society. In response, the National Sports Museum was established.
Modern museums are looking for new changes through archives. The museum archive has established itself as an open and cultural space within the digital space. In modern museums, archives are considered necessary in terms of content and online services. The National Sports Museum's archive is both a sports archive and a museum archive. Therefore, the direction should be clear since it is the first National Sports Museum archive to be built.
In this study, the concept of the sports museum archive was established, and the direction of the National Sports Museum archive was presented.
Before proposing the direction of the National Sports Museum archive, the necessity of establishing the concept of the museum archive and establishing the sports museum archive was suggested. In addition, the current status of sports archives and museum archives was analyzed through domestic and foreign precedents. In particular, the role and function of a sports archive and a museum archive were presented through user services and functions within the digital archive operated in common. Furthermore, while pointing out the problems in the current case, the direction of the development of the archive was presented in the direction of enhancing the social position and status of the National Sports Museum.
This study is meaningful in suggesting directions in the sports museum archives where no previous studies exist. The National Sports Museum has many areas, including sports records, museums, and archives. The National Sports Museum archive will be the basis of sports culture in the future. It is expected that detailed discussions and research will continue, including this study.
