This study sought to examine different dimensions of Nigeria's kidnapping problem to provide solutions that are based on transformative actions. The study formulated five objectives each designed to understand the trend, causes, actors, spatial distribution and government responses based on transformative actions. The study adopted an exploratory research design, using nominal and discrete data obtained from secondary sources like existing literature and kidnapping incidences in Nigeria, such as the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED). The data were analyzed using a systematic literature review. The findings of the study showed that the actions taken by the Nigerian government to tackle kidnapping are transformative however, there are loose ends in the country's action, which requires more efforts based on the tenets of transformative action. The study recommends that the government should re-assess their strategies in tackling kidnapping in the country to precisely tackle kidnapping in Nigeria without compromising human rights.
