Following the tendency of economic integration, the term of globalization flourishes and occupies the mainstream view with universal actions and effects in modern society. With the irreversible development of globalization, the world interconnects and interdepends to each other with a stronger interaction. However, the anti-globalist tides against the trend of economic globalization. Trade protectionism prevails in many countries to protect domestic industries against alleged unfair trade practice and violates the traditional advocation of free trade. Protectionism is back on the policy agenda, its widespread is stronger more than ever. It damages the world economy in the long run although certain groups could benefit from protectionism in the short term. This thesis studies the negative influence of trade restrictions on the integral economy, particularly in the background of the economic globalization situation.
As for Vietnam, this research aims to analyze the nature of trade protectionism, the causes and effects of this policy on exports of developing countries such as Vietnam. In recent years, protectionist policies in export markets such as the United States, Japan, and the EU, have created pressure and have caused significant impacts on Vietnam's exports. On the basis from the research results, this thesis also proposes a number of solutions for exporting enterprises and the Government to promote sustainable exports, overcoming trade protection policies of key markets in the future.
