In this study, two textbooks of 『Español I』 and 『Basic Spanish Major』 were selected as study materials, which was made according to the curriculum revised in 2015, and dialogues in the textbooks were studied and analyzed based on typicality, interculturality and PCIC(Plan curricular del Instituto Cervantes). Since the 1970s, the teaching method has changed to the Communicative Approach so that learners have learned foreign languages with an ultimate goal of communication by keeping the pace with the global era. However, in South Korea, it is difficult to focus on conversation classes due to the college entrance examination system. Most learners learn Spanish for the first time so they need to develop and improve their speaking proficiency from the educational field.
The spoken language that intactly indicates language habits of the mother tongue is spoken word (lengua hablada), which is a language used in a daily life, not special circumstances. The configuration of dialogues in textbooks used mainly in the educational field aims to help learners who learn Spanish for the first time to have basic communication skills. Therefore, this study aims to study and analyze dialogues in current Spanish textbooks based on the three criteria of typicality, interculturality and PCIC (Plan curricular del Instituto Cervantes), and build and accumulate materials on the dialogues.
To investigate typicalityis met, dialogues are investigated to identify whether they function as standard content. Therefore, the effects of the daily content, use of learning goals, naturalness of dialogues, and discourse cover on the learners are investigated.
As for interculturality, content with prominent cultural characteristics are extracted from dialogues in order for learners to develop a spirit of understanding and accepting other cultures.
Finally, as for PCIC's communication functions (Funciones), expressions are investigated to identify they meet the learning goals. Therefore, it is expected that this study can be a meaningful study that can contribute to pursuit of gradual improvement of Spanish spoken language education and search for the desired goals.
