The purpose of this study is to examine how the characteristics of entrepreneurship and the social capital of middle-aged entrepreneurs have an impact on their startup intention to through a positive psychology and how the government’s support services are functioning. It is intended to measure and analyze the assumption that entrepreneurial competency and social capital will have a significant impact on entrepreneurship intention through the positive entrepreneurship of entrepreneurs, away from the study that directly affects entrepreneurship intention. Non-probability sampling through 27 middle-aged technology entrepreneurship centers, Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center, and social media for 2 weeks from May 13 to 27, 2020, targeting middle-aged and middle-aged spare entrepreneurs and early entrepreneurs less than 3 years A survey was conducted using the convenience sampling method, which is one of the methods. As a result of the survey, 279 data were collected, and 274 data were finally used for analysis, excluding 5 data with poor survey.
The analysis results are as follows.
1. The founding ability of middle-aged entrepreneurs was found to have a significant effect on positive psychology. Technological competence among founding competencies was found to have a significant effect on optimism and resilience.
2. The social capital of middle-aged entrepreneurs was found to have a significant effect on positive psychology. Norms were found to have a significant effect on optimism and resilience, respectively, and networks were also found to have a significant effect on optimism and resilience, respectively.
3. The entrepreneurship competency of middle-aged entrepreneurs was not found to have a significant effect on entrepreneurship intention.
4. The social capital of middle-aged entrepreneurs was found to have a significant effect on the intention to start a business. Trust, norms and networks have been found to have a significant impact on startup intentions.
5. The positive psychology of middle-aged entrepreneurs was found to have a significant effect on the intention to start a business. Both optimism and resilience had a significant impact on the startup intention.
6. The relationship between startup entrepreneurship, social capital, positive psychology and creative intention of middle-aged entrepreneurs was found to differ depending on the business support service. It was confirmed that the relationship between the positive psychology of middle-aged entrepreneurs and the intention to start a business differs depending on the business support service.
The results of this study suggest that if a middle-aged entrepreneur thinks optimistically about the future in startups and overcomes difficult situations without giving up, the possibility of establishing a company may increase. The ministries and corporate support agencies in charge of corporate policies should take into account the psychiatric status of these entrepreneurs and develop services to enhance their intention to startup.
