Currently, Vietnam is on its way of upgrading competition law and policy, including the role of state - owned enterprises in the economy. Many issues still remain in these areas and it faces many other challenges, regulations in a systematic manner, adapting its competition law to ensure it is more effects base and an institution(s) that is independent and has the necessary resources and skills to improve the competition framework. The current plans to change the competition law in Viet Nam are an opportunity to adapt the competition law and institutions to international best practices.
Therefore, this thesis would be more consolidated and up-to-date to Vietnam current status about the abuse of dominant position and monopolization. The dissertation is divided into five chapters.
Chapter I is the general concept of dominance and monopolization. This part would state the international regulations on the issue.
Chapter II, I introduced the US Antitrust Law and also regulations on abuse of dominant position and monopolization.
Chapter III, I discussed about the EU Competition Law and herewith also comparing between United States and European Union on related regulations.
Chapter IV is the chapter that I will present the Vietnamese Competition Law, the current regulations in comparison with the previous.
Chapter V is where I listed the current problems on related issues in Vietnam and also proposed a few proposals for improvements.
