This research is a literature research in Korea based on the experimental theses of the program based on the mindfulness meditation. The mindfulness meditation is one of the oldest performances of Buddhism. And, as a stress reduction program based on the mindfulness of Sati of Buddhism, the mindfulness meditation was created by John Kabat-Zinn.
The purposes of this research are to take a look at how the researches on the MBSR, which is a stress reduction program that is based on the mindfulness within Korea, and the programs that are based on the MBSR had been proceeded with and to propose the verifications of the effects of, and the supplementary measures regarding, the programs that are related to the results of the experiment.
Regarding the method of the research, among the MBSR program and the programs that are based on the MBSR program, by securing only the theses that are based on the experimental researches, 33 scientific theses and 2 doctoral theses had been used as the research materials, and the analysis took place by being centered on the experimental scale. Regarding the research materials, the following 4 programs had been used:
MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction),
K-MBSR (Korean version of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction),
MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy), and
MBTP (Mindfulness-Based Teenager Suicide Prevention).
After reclassifying the materials that were classified by program and by the problem of the body and the mind, the effects of the experimental scale that had been used for the experiment had been taken a look at. The causal analysis and the supplementary measure regarding the scale that did not have any effects on the program were presented. And the effects of the program were disclosed regarding the aspect of the analysis of the effects of the scale.
As a result of the research, among the scales that had been used for the proceeding with the program, it was able to see that a scale which was not suitable for measuring the mindfulness had been used repetitively. And a scale, too, which was suitable when measuring the effects by the problem of the mind and the body was confirmed.
Although the results of the experiment with the research materials showed the significant effects overall, regarding there being the part in relation to which the individual scales could not obtain the effects, the fact that the realistic problems, including the burden on the part of the participants in the experiment and the others of the like, and not observing the parts that were structured as the effects of the program in the shortened form were proven to a certain extent was the biggest cause. There were nearly no satisfaction regarding the structured time, the number of the sessions, etc. of the program. And most were the transformations into the shortened forms.
Also, before and after the participation in the experiment by the personnel, the cases, too, in which the method and the quality of the experiment had the problems had been shown, including the appropriate control not taking place regarding the many parts and the others of the like.
The suggestion of this research is the viewpoint that there is a need for the researches through the more proper scales to take place as there had been nearly no researches centered on the scale although the literature reviews had taken place previously. The results of this research have the significance as the basic materials for the follow-up researches.
Also, the problems of the specific scales were disclosed. And the development, the revision, the selection, and the verification of a scale that is related with the measurement of the mindfulness that fits the emotions of the Koreans were proposed. It is with regard to the fact that the importance of the strict observance of the structural aspects of the program was confirmed that there are the academic and actual work implications. Although, when seen from the aspect of the analysis of the scale, most of them had been the experiments which had not observed the structural parts of the programs, including the time, the number of the sessions, etc., as the very positive effects of the overall program could be confirmed in the results of the analysis of the effects of the scale, if we think about even the effects that are internalized, the even more positive effects of the MBSR and the programs that are based on it could be estimated. It is in this regard that there is the academic suggestion.
