Internet commerce has enabled peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions on a large scale than ever before, and sharing economy is causing a significant change in the structure of business. Despite the rapid growth of sharing economy, it has raised difficult legal questions. Transportation Network Companies (TNC), as one of the largest sector of sharing economy has brought several legal problems to be solved. Many countries have stipulated statutes for regulating the legal status of TNCs and there are cases set rules for the liability of TNCs when accidents happened.
This dissertation explores the regulation on legal status and liability of TNCs in U.S. and China through comparative regulation and case study, hope to find a new solution for TNC service under sharing economy and to fill the gaps between existing legal system of transportation and the growth of new industry.
