At a time when various educational methods are developed using media, this study started with the question of how to use media more effectively than before to make learner-centered classes. As a result, by using blogs and newspaper out of various media, it devised a class of 'making fiction newspaper using blogs . The contents of the study are as follows.
Chapter II reviewed the basic concept of fiction newspaper and blogs. Along with that, it searched educational effects that can be gained by using the media, newspaper and blog, and designed a teaching and learning model based on them. The teaching and learning model consists of 5 stages- 'planning stage, preparation stage, reading stage, activity stage, and appreciation and evaluation stage'.
Chapter III specified instruction methods based on the teaching and learning model mentioned above. Four sessions of class were planned targeting middle school students, and as for the fiction to be used for the class, 'a Small Ball Shot Up by a Dwarf' by Sehee Cho was chosen. The first session was the time for making groups, understanding classes that use newspaper, class introduction, and developing overall understanding of the fiction. After the second session, students of each group wrote articles for two weeks through online discussions. In the third and fourth session, each group makes presentations of their newspaper and appreciates and evaluates them.
Reading fictions and making newspaper is an activity that students read literary works themselves, reconstruct them, and writing articles. So it can be a method of educating novels focusing on learners, process, and activities. Also, it can enhance learners' interest and understanding about literary works and develop their appreciation of the works into a personal experience. It can also develop cooperative skills and provide a sense of achievement after completing newspaper. However, as previous newspaper making classes tried to include all the activities within class and took a long time, there was the problem of inefficiency. In this study, editing meetings and 'newspaper making' activities were done online, and the written articles were uploaded on blogs, reducing the period of making newspaper. By using blogs, students could hold group editing meetings without the restriction of time and place, and only had to type their articles using a computer without the inconvenience of writing on paper and uploading them on blogs. Using blogs for discussions brings the benefit of including passive students in discussions. Also, it enriches the classes and makes it possible to write more various types of articles. So it is believed to be significant class activities to use blogs and newspaper when having classes on fiction.
