Beauty industries include hair, skin, fashion and nail art. Recently, with expanded social markets, nail art has become popular to the public. In the 21st century, at the same time that beauty has been classified into hair, make-up, skin care and nail art, beauty industries have been divided into hair shops, skin care shops, make-up shops and nail shops, and further development of each industry has been required.
Nail art of the past was confined to trimming and coloring nails, but the nail art of the 21st century has developed as a means of expressing beauty of customers. Women have paid more attention to beauty while they have been actively engaged in social and economic activities. They have recognized that representation of characteristic images is a strategy for social success and creative design should be developed, which has led to development of nail shops. Nail art and Korean traditional patterns are part of sculptural art which shows creativity and peculiarity. The traditional patterns are the greatest common factor involving in our aestheticism derived from our peculiar thoughts and emotion, and reflect our peculiar consciousness of making forms and decorating appearances, senses, materials and techniques. They are similar to nail art in that dots, lines and colors were configured to express aesthetic part of the traditional patterns, As diverse nail materials were developed, research on them has been actively made, and the importance of characteristic design has been highlighted. Customers want nailists who can express their unique characteristics and meanings. Therefore, this study made a nail art work using UV polish gel as one of nail materials which have been actively studied along with general review of nail art to encourage understanding of nail art. When women were interviewed with a use of the questionnaire on the day when they want to be the prettiest, they responded that it was their wedding day. So this study designated a special day of wedding day for the situation of T. O. P. and investigated Korean traditional pattern motives based on previous studies. The patterns with symbolism of Samdashinang(wish for luck, longevity and fecundity) on wedding days were investigated to make motives and colors for them were applied for the nail design. This study surveyed the preference of women in twenties and thirties on the nail design proposed in this study and their satisfaction on it was analysed. The data collected for the study was analysed with the use of SPSS21.0 Program. After the primary analysis was conducted according to age of customers, preference of images was obtained through descriptive statistics analysis. It is expected that the results of this study will be efficiently used as material for wedding nail art design and be helpful for technological development of nailists and higher quality of nail industry.
