Golf is the most diffused modern sport throughout Korea and can be popular and very accessible sports for all. In particular, golf has strong game characteristics and golf betting frequently appears in golf rounding with partners. It is not too much to say that golf betting is representative of Korean amateur golf. However, although golf should be recognized as sound sports, attachment to batting may cause the degeneration of ends and means, resulting in golf gambling. It is apt to bring about negative social recognition of gambling, luxury, and aristocratic golf.
Therefore, the purpose of this study is to grasp qualitative contents of golf participation and verify the effects of golf motivation on post-golf behavior and differences in golf motivation and post-behaviorsin relation to the types and levels of golf betting in amateur golf bettors to understand and explain their recognition level of golf.
For the purpose, theoretical literature review and empirical data analysis were combined. Golf bettors' sports motivation factors and measured variables of post behavior were drawn from theoretical literature review. Also, a model was designed and verified with types and characteristics of sports as moderating or background variables.
For the empirical analysis, 172 questionnaires finally returned from selected samples were changed into analyzable data through factor analysis and reliability analysis. Then a new study model and hypotheses were established. Each hypothesis was tested by multiple regression analysis and moderated regression analysis. Additionally, recognition difference of measured variables was analyzed in relation to background variables.
The analysis results showed that intrinsic motivation, amotivation, and physical fitness(sports motivation) had a significant effect on sports satisfaction(post behavior). Thus, Hypothesis 1(the post behavior of sports motivation) is partially adopted. For the level of effects, while intrinsic motivation and physical fitness had a positive effect(+), amotivation had a negative effect(-). For the moderated regression analysis of golf betting intensity, golf betting intensity had no moderated effect on the effect of sports motivation(independent variable) on post behavior(dependent variable). For a difference in golf betting intensity for measured variables, there was a significant difference between groups only in external display. For a difference in golf betting types for measured variables, there was a significant difference in amotivation and post-behavior.
