This study is planned to develop instructional design model for e—Learning for the improvement of higher cognitive ability by using cognitive apprenticeship and verify learning effect by doing the teaching - learning using teaching plan based on this model.
The subjects of this study that I do to achieve this purpose are below.
First, how can I develop instructional design model for e-Learning by using cognitive apprenticeship?
Second, how can I make the teaching plan based on this model for the elementary school subject?
Third,what is the effect of instructional design model for e-Learning by using cognitive apprenticeship on learner's achievement?
Fourth, how are learners satisfied with cognitive apprenticeship based on e-Learning?
Then, I refered to documents and demonstrated to solve the subjects.
First, I set up the basic line based on a constituent element and principles of constructive instructional design, a conception and principles of cognitive apprenticeship and e-Learning environment by documents and prerequisite study.
Next, I projected a draft of instructional design model for e-Learning by using cognitive apprenticeship based on this basic line, this draft was analyzed and verified suitability and propriety twice from experts by using Delphi method. And then, I completed this model systematically.
I made teaching plans for science, social studies and practical course for the elementary school sixth grade students. These are for 80 minutes block lesson each(two hours, one lesson) and I made a writing test sheet for the assessment of the before and after achievement and a on-line test sheet for checking their individual learning effect each subject.
In addition, for verifying the effect of cognitive apprenticeship based on e-Learning from a learner's viewpoint, I made a learner's satisfaction questionnaire separately.
As mentioned above, I did the assessment of the before achievement, I performed teaching-learning course for two weeks and after that, I did the assessment of the after achievement and a learner's satisfaction questionnaire with these materials that I prepared.
Last,the result of the before and after achievement test was verified by wilcoxon signed Rank test, inferential statistics. And the result of a learner's satisfaction questionnaire was compiled by descriptive statistics (spss 20.0 for windows, significant level .05)
Finally,the verified results from this study are below.
First, by Delphi method, the result of measuring suitability for each step, the preparation for teaching, teaching -learning process, the teaching analysis and the teaching improvement, all of them showed an affirmative reaction of the average 3 and over (3.33~4.67) in concreteness and effectiveness. In addition, in the result of measuring propriety of the whole model on overall flow,propriety, usefulness, universality, comprehensibility and persuasion, all of them showed an affirmative reaction of average 3 and over (3.11~4.11). After all, each step was adopted in the final instructional design model.
Second, I made a teaching plan to concrete teaching process and perform the formative developmental research based on this instructional design model. Teaching plan was composed of the preparation for teaching, teaching - learning process, the teaching analysis and the teaching improvement and each sub step based on instructional design model for e—Learning by using cognitive apprenticeship. I chose the sixth grade in the elementary school in consideration of my environment for the research performance. And I chose science,social studies and practical course to give them the situational real task related with real life and to try to apply new e-Learing subject lesson.
Third, I finished the teaching-learning based on instructional design model for e-Learning and got a significant results in the before and after achievement test of all the three subject. So it is confirmed that this model is effective for teaching method.
Fourth, concerning this learning, in a learner's satisfaction questionnaire for verifying the effect of cognitive apprenticeship based on e-Learning, from a learner's viewpoint, cognitive apprenticeship based on e-Learning showed higher satisfaction in all part, compared with traditional direct teaching.
