The aim of this treatise is to study Edward Albee's works and to find out his originality. It is no doubt that he belongs to the Absurd writers and he has the common point of views with them. his main concern is about the absurdity of our existence and the alienation of man and the searching true communication in human relation ike other absurdists. But he directs his attention to the absurdity of the American family and society while other absurdists take notice of the individual relationships and their isolation.
In the chapter of "The Searching for the Communication I considered mainly how Albee tried to find out the true human relation ship but he failed to search for the way of true communication, I think.
In chapter of "The American Wasteland" I studied how Albee thought of the American family and society. He disclosed the distorted reality of American family and the false reputation of American dream and the sterility of American society. He found out the barrenness, the sex without production, the empty life, the fallen sex, and alienation. Such scenes are not other than those of waste land.
In chapter of " The Precarious Coexistence" I examined how Albee suggested us to live in this anxious and uneasy world. I think he would like to teach us that we had better to existence and live however our living conditions are hard and uncertain. He confirms us that existence precedes all ideas. So I named this chapter 'the precarious coexistence' and his Delicate Balance shows us the same meaning.
