Today we are on the digital age, but there always exist analogue elements among the emotional world of high consumption. That's why it can easily go close to people's emotion to get the big welcome. In this base, the futuristic environmental factors for the consumers and the visitors can occur naturally as a result of the emotional and physical factors of the display. Therefore the expression of Floral Art Design also goes from the functionality and aesthetic thought over to the direction of representing the natural concept in our living environment There appears to be clear direction. It may help them to have the emotional consolidation on the modern times of no vitality after industrialization.
The cultural mood of our traditional Floral Art Design has been centered on the aesthetic perspective, also statical and contemplative. In these days, the modern Floral Art Design in our country largely sticks to the theories and the formations in Holland or Germany, and the display in the commercial space also generally follows to the floral artists of the British or France. The foreign artists design the floral display of the famous hotels and the big department stores, and the study courses for the floral design are also largely influenced by the floral institutions of Germany, Holland, or the British. With this reason, we have not so many Korean traditional floral designs for the commercial display, and there are still so many western styles. The formations of designs displayed in the specialized stores, the open spaces or the other places I researched also mostly came from the floral culture of the West or the Europe. In my case study for the formation of the floral design, I found 7 clothing stores among 10 had the decorative design, 2 stores had the vegetative design, and the other had the graphic one. This means the sense of color, the symbol and application of objet are important on the concept of clothing shops. There appears designs looking for the harmony between the ins and outs for the eating and drinking places. Their tables prefer to the lowered decorative formation or the vegetation mood, and for the outside the garden style they designs the surrounding natural environment itself appears. The central garden of Grape Hotel and Muyi-Muyi in Je-ju Do adopts the formation of a natural garden, and produces the unusual design changed as its different seasons to draw the concerns of the visitors. For the wedding spaces, they always prefer to the pastel color or the white tone, but are seeking for other images using objet. For the open space, they prefer to the displays they can promote the image of market place. The factors of the materials and the objet need to appeal to the visual impact of the visitors and the consumers. In this study, I interviewed 30 floral designers of many years' standing, not with the public. They answered they used the natural materials of 67%, the artificial ones of 17% for the display of the commercial place. They prefer to the natural formation of 43%, the decorative formation of 27%, and modern style of 13% for the producing of display. They answers the 76% of visitors and consumers are satisfied with the commercial places which have the floral design. It says the consumers are generally satisfied with the display space of the floral design. But the floral design field is contracting now because so many sales manages want to spend so little money for the good display in these days of economic slump. The floral designers hope to develop the individual design(33%), originality(33%), the harmony with the goods(13%), the pratical use of color or pieces(10%) to supplement the insufficient floral display. They have the inclination to follow in footsteps, not to seek for the creative producing with study, so 40% of designers choose the harmonious design with the work of art as a piece of design they want to produce in the future, and 30% for the design with scales, 23% for the design with a rhythmical sense.
The modern floral art design in our country has been made rapid progress for the last 20 years. During those years, the floral culture came from Europe, Japan, and the America in the name of modern sciences occupied their leading position in the floral culture of our country. As a result, our traditional floral art design has been withered. We need much more case studies about designs applied on the market place. It will produce more art designs which have Korean spirit or culture. With this efforts, I hope, we can establish some kinds of identity we need to keep and accept and hand down to the next ages.
