Stress refers to the consequence of the failure of a human or an animal to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats, whether actual or imagined. Stress symptoms commonly include a state of alarm and adrenaline production, short-term resistance as a coping mechanism, and exhaustion, as well as irritability, muscular tension, inability to concentrate and a variety of physiological reactions such as headache and elevated heart rate. For women, recently, many stresses occurred with the increase in the number of women into society. Stress can be divided into job and household stress. The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of nail treatment on the decrease of stress levels of women in their jobs and housework. To achieve that goal, 200 questionnaire sheets was distributed to the women in Gwangju area with nailshop experience and returned 197 sheets. The data collected was analyzed by statistical frequency analysis, cross analysis and t-test using SPSS statistical software package. In summary, the results showed that a degree of stress of women was a similar according to the age and marital status. Concerning job stress, married women at work had more stress than unmarried women at work. The stress increased depending on age; 40-50 age group had more stress than 20-30 age group. Most working women relieved their stress in their aesthetic activity including nail treatment (31%), hair treatment (24.9%), skin treatment (11.7%), and change in face (4.1%). Other opinion included sleeping and shopping to relieve stress according to the results. Based on this study, it was shown that the nail treatment had a positive effect on relieve of job and household stress. Moreover, the awareness of nail management was very positive also.
