In this study, the characteristics of 『Hanmoonhoonmong』 for how to cope with the chinese writing education leaded by Japanese Empire when the national right was lost were investigated by analyzing the characteristics of the system and contents of it producted by Gisik Song in 1920.
『Hanmoonhoonmong』 was published when Gisik Song, the author of 『Soksoohanmoonhoonmong』, progressed the education activity for the protection of the national right and the enlightenment of the nation as a fighter for national independence and a educator.
When 『Hanmoonhoonmong』 was producted, the situation of the chinese writing was more lost than that in the past and the textbook published by the government was used for the education in the school. Also, most textbooks for the new change of the times couldn't be used because these were not approved by the government-general. Under the current thoughts, Gisik Song should publish 『Hanmoonhoonmong』 in the end.
The systemic characteristics of 『Hanmoonhoonmong』 were divided into followings.
Firstly, 『Hanmoonhoonmong』 made the teachers and students use it more effectively by presenting the objectives of the publishment, teaching methods, and learning methods in the head of the textbook like the chinese writing textbooks before and after the civilization. Secondly, it made the quick learning possible by constructing the textbook with Chinese characters, words written in Chinese characters and chinese writing. Also, 『Hanmoonhoonmong』 made the quick study possible by including the learning of Chinese characters and the learning of the chinese writing sentences, which could play a role as a preliminary textbook Thirdly, it embodied and systematized the level of the sentence learning by separating the conclusion of the unit with learning examination in the textbook. In this part, it is thought that the learning examination was inherent in the systemic purpose of the author being similar to that of the textbook used in the primary school.
『Hanmoonhoonmong』 included the contents for Confucian ideas and new knowledge necessary in the real life in consideration of the education conditions. In the re-analytical results of the contents, the characteristics was divided into the followings.
Firstly, it used sage as the landmark of the education. The young beginner was justly applied to the thinking that the human being should set the goal at sage. Secondly, it was to foster the ethical nature and abstain the behavior. These were constantly referred in the chinese writing textbooks in all times and 『Hanmoonhoonmong』 cannot help emphasizing on these contents because placing more weight on Confucian ideas. Thirdly, it included the knowledge of the life reflecting the every day and the age. Although the Japanese Empire sensitively responded to the new knowledge, Gisik Song feeling keenly the necessity of the new knowledge included this knowledge in 『Hanmoonhoonmong』.
『Hanmoonhoonmong』 by Gisik Song was of great value in contributing to the advance in the textbook by fumbling various plans for the subjugation of the limitation as the Japanese Empire without confining in the Japanese Empire in the educational conditional in which the chinese Writing lost the position by Japan and the textbook by us couldn't be used at our will.
