Now is the time that culture can be the pride and key industries. So cultural approach to a city provides a chance to improve the quality of citizens' life.

At this point of time culture has a good possibility of promoting the development of a city, that is why we cannot set aside Bongsan Culture Street to achieve the goal to make Daegu 'the center city of culture and art'.

Now that Bongsan Culture Street is degraded into an ordinary street because of its lack of functions as a culture street, the place which can be committed to meeting citizens' need for culture has disappeared. As Bongsan Culture Street has been out of systematic ways to blossom until now, it should change into a place for cultural communication and a street where life coexists with local culture by synthetically designing all the constituents on the street.

From this point of view this research suggests new ways in which in administering a culture street, Bongsan Culture Street hardens its cultural value and becomes a place which can be intimately used for citizens' spare time.

There are about 50 culture-related businesses on Bongsan Culture Street but they have a lot of problems on administrational, systematical, and operational aspects. Furthermore it has no significant cultural difference as a culture street from others. So, measures to improve it are urgently needed. Because those problems haven't brought citizens' participation, Bongsan Culture Street needs changes in general and the ways to revitalize it conclude as follows.

First, through close cooperation, Jungguchung and Daegu city should have responsibility to share in administrating Bongsan Culture Street, recognize that Bongsan Culture Street is the only one in Daegu, and make a municipal ordinance to promote cultural facilities. Also, there should be improvement in street furniture and the view of the Bongsan Culture Street which can show its peculiarities.

Second, Bongsan Culture Street should be born again as the place for citizens to want to visit by getting its characteristics. By making a 'Bongsan Culture Street Support Center' the exchange with visitors can increase, and by expanding cultural space on the roadside which can also be used for rest it is expected to undergo a renewal.

Third, We can get alternatives on operating Bongsan Culture Street from citizens' participation. Thus, Bongsan Culture Street can be the place which the citizens run with subjecthood. Also, the alternatives should be concrete to culturally commercialize Bongsan Culture Street as a tourist attraction.

When Bongsan Culture Street is actively improved through these plans, it can be completely transformed into a better culture street, and perform its role as the only culture street in Daegu.
