This study conducts a comparative analysis of the 'Korean- Language' area in the 7th curriculum and 'Grammar' area in the 2007 curriculum. Also, the study aims to contribute to having the status of the 'Grammar' area more securely positioned without being diminished, and to preparing the framework for Korean language education by looking into the core teaching factors in the 'Grammar' area in the 2007 curriculum and suggesting a stratification.
The key in this study is to prepare a new curriculum and to understand what change has appeared by comparing and analyzing the contents in the grammar part of the 7th curriculum and in the 2007 curriculum. After looking into the overall changes in the 2007 curriculum first, this study reviews 'Korean-Language' in the 7th curriculum and the 'Grammar' area in the 2007 curriculum according to their characters and goals, contents by school year, teaching and learning methods, and evaluations. Then, the study is to propose core teaching factors according to each curriculum.
The 7th curriculum is based on the characteristic of 'a student-oriented curriculum for the enhancement of a learner's volunteerism and creativity', and the human image this curriculum pursues is established as 'a person who unfolds his or her creative ability'. Also, the 7th curriculum inherited the goal of the 6th curriculum in an advanced shape, and yet, it established to improve the ability of the learner's creative Korean language use as the highest goal of Korean language education. Based on this perspective, the study considered the core teaching factors in the 'Korean- Language' area in the 7th curriculum, as the achievement of a goal in 'the enhancement of the ability to use the Korean language'. Also, it proposed the education contents that can effectively demonstrate this in the 'Korean-Language' area in the 7th curriculum, and also suggested learning and teaching methods for 'Korean- Language' in the 7th curriculum on the basis of 'learning activity by level' proposed on a national level.
The 2007 curriculum emphasized the lingual data and contexts by stressing the authenticity of the use of language, tried to ensure concreteness by proposing the level and scope of lingual data, and exhibited the contents of learning in the form of an achievement standard for raising the possibility of execution, which may be significant specific items in the 2007 curriculum.
Based on this direction of revision, the study took the core plan factors in the 2007 curriculum as the achievement of a goal of 'the production and reception of discourse and writing'. Furthermore, the study examined the contents of grammar directly related to the goal and suggested core teaching methods that enable 'the achievement standard' defined on the unit school level to be effectively implemented through a school unit learning and teaching in the contents factor of the 2007 'Grammar' area.
