Standards for the natural environment quantify the objectives of a desirable environment that is pleasant, and natural, preserved and maintained to protect human health, in which organic ecological order is secured. Thus, the standards for the natural environment is the criteria through which the natural environment conditions, that should be secured, at least to maintain daily activities in a natural order.
This study is to compare the standards for the natural environment between Korea and Japan in order to identify whether they meet the changing times and conditions of the environment and what needs to be complemented.
There are similarities in standards for the natural environment between the two countries in air, water, and soil pollution, noise and vibration, but Japan has some laws that are not developed in Korea. They are laws on dioxin and railway noise. Korea has standards for the natural environment on noise and vibration control, but in Japan, each local area has its own ordinances. And Japan regulates the period to achieve them along with the standards for the natural environment.
