In modern art, there have been a lot of works that used limited formative elements such as dot. The inherent meaning and formative application of dot may vary in accordance with different artists.
Conceptually, dot has no length, breadth and thickness. The only thing which dot has is position. In formative art, however, dot is used in form of occupying a small area. Dot is a formative element which is simple and pure. Dot is isolated from an area around it. But is is felt visually concentrated. Dot itself provides no figurative association. In this respect, rather, it may be seen implicative and abstract.
This researcher focused on the abstractness of dot. It seems that dot has implicit meanings inside, in comparison to other figurative elements that are much explanatory. This allowed me to believe that dot is similar to daily life where I exist.
Our society where people are living their life in daily routines makes me feel a particular image, that is, the gathering of smaller objects.
In my work whose theme was people's social life, I attempted to express personal daily life images by using the formative element, that is, dot. For the attempt, I relied on the repetitive use of dots.
By using dots, I tried to express the above images in metal accessories. This is because I believed that such images which can be figured in a simple, pure way could better harmonize with such accessories that are usually relatively small and sophisticated.
Thus the purpose of this study is to express personal images of daily life in metal accessories by using the formative element, that is, dot.
