In this paper, platform manufacturing method of mobile robot attached to vertical hull outer wall for building large ship to do various works is studied.
Work which is performed at high position such as welding line examination and cleaning work about hull outer wall of large ship is very dangerous. Therefore, it is really hard to keep up the quality of uniform work and environmental pollution is also caused by noise and dust at sea and dock. Because of such reasons, we need to develop the platform of vertical moving type that can achieve a series of works travelling and can be attached stably on hull outside by remote controller.
The vertical moving platform of permanent magnet type is limited in working environment, however, this takes many advantages of attaching various tool by decreasing weight and it can be also applied to various building structures which can be attached permanent magnet.
The sticking force and tractive force is deduced by free body diagram and magnet arrangement is achieved by magnetic force test for developing vertical moving platform of permanent magnet type. This platform fully meets the design requirements and specifications in performance test.
