These days, much attention has been paid to studies on ubiquitous computing as our desires for convenience and needs to relieve anxiety of surrounding environment are stronger and technology to realize such needs is being assured. The ubiquitous computing means intelligent environment which recognizes surrounding environment and provides the result for users. It is realized when a networks is organized in which computers are embedded in surrounding objects or environment. Such network helps us to overcome restrictions to space or locations where information is acquired as it recognizes changing conditions of remote places.
RFID is a main technology of many advanced technologies necessary to organize such ubiquitous. And many countries have performed lots of studies on it as one of new industrial nurturing strategies through development of next-generation new technology. Many advanced countries have supported development and practical application of RFID and sensor technologies through various projects to develop such features of RFID.
This study realized automatic lighting switches using TinyOS, an operational system designed for network embedded systems and focused on understanding the concept and behaviors of ubiquitous and RFID/USN. This study found that stable RF communication and data transmission and receipt between sensor nodes and sink nodes, which collect data on external environment, monitor and analyse them, and deal with them properly, is accomplished.
