This study investigated the dance-sports injury experience, treatment realities and analyzed the region and frequency of injury according to gender(male and female) and dance-sports types(Jive, Rumba, Chachacha), objects(high school, university and amateur dancers). And it sought to investigate the characteristic aspect of dance-sports injury occurring among the dancers. To attain this goal of study, this study conducted the questionnaire research for dance-sports majors and amateur dancers enrolled in the private dance-sports academies, high school and universities located in Daegu, Gumi, Pohang. As a result, the following data were obtained:
First, it was found that more than 76.5% of the dancers had experiences in dance-sports injury, which shows one aspect that they were easily exposed to dance-sports injury. And it was found that dance-sports injury was most experienced by at the personal practice time(58.2% of the respondents) and at winter(72.4% of the respondents).
Third, it was found that the responding dancers got the most dance-sports injury in ankle and feet in relation to the region and frequency of dance-sports injury. It was found that the female dancers(52%) got more dance-sports injury than the male counterparts(48%) in terms of gender. It was found that the most dance-sports injury occurred in the region of ankle in case of the male dancers(38.7%) and feet in case of the female dancers(32.6%).
It was found that the responding dancers got more dance-sports injury in Jive(39.4%) than in Chachacha(32.9%) and Rumba(27.7%). It was found that the responding dancers got the ankle's injury in Chachacha (37.7%) and Jive (37.2%) and got the waist‘s injury in Rumba(43.4%). It was found that the university students got the dance-sports injury in ankle(34.1%) and that the high school students(35.0%) and amateur dancers(35.9%) got the most dance-sports injury in feet.
Fourth, it was found that 41.3% of the respondents took their own emergency measures after dance-sports injury occurred. 89.8% of the respondents said that the same dance-sports injury recurred after treatment. It can be found that most dance-sports injury lasted from acute injury to chronic injury. Therefore, it is necessary to manage it thoroughly.
Fifth, 41.2% of the respondents said that they had few experiences in education about how to take emergency measures against dance-sports injury before or after dance. 13.3% said that they had no experience in it. It was found that they had not received any proper education about how to take emergency measures against dance-sports injury before and after dance began. It was found that the dance-sports majors and amateur dancers took care and make efforts not to get dance-sports injury at the usual time to prevent dance-sports injury from occurring.
