The aim of this study is to look into the alcoholic's experience and find out the meaning regarding the interaction between the rest family members and the alcoholic who has been giving up drinking apart from the alcoholism. Looking through the existing documents, alcohol dependence has been emphasized to be a 'unrecoverable' disease. Especially, we could find many study results indicating that alcohol dependence makes the family sick while affecting negative effects. However, there has been no study at the alcoholic's point of view regarding the family members' effects which affect the recoverer to stop drinking.
Therefore, I have been progressing this study establishing the research subject focusing on experience of the recoverers : "How does the retroaction of family interact with the recoverers?"
As the qualitative research method, I have mainly collected the materials by interviewing. To avoid any misunderstanding that the interviewing as a qualitative research method is not objective but rather subjective and also to give more objectivity to this research, I have been advised by other professions.
By analyzing them, I could pick out various subjects from the experiences of recoverers.
The participants of the study explains 'family' to be the source of power to give reason and will to live while describing the power to make them recovered as "the power of family". They also mentioned that the power of family here is the comfort to seek mental relaxation like faith depending on the unknown future from the dissatisfaction in present. They said that they became to have the mind of mercy, love, and reliance while being sincere against the things they fear with their attitude of serving the one with strength like the supernatural absolute being. Also, the research participants experienced positive interaction with the family who believes in them. As they have been experiencing the absolute love from the close family members beside themselves, they got to know the importance of family and understand the mind of family members, while being able to love themselves at the same time.
According to this study, the family that the alcohol dependent experiences is the one which is giving love and still keeping the seed of belief although it has been damaged already. Therefore, it is needed and important at the clinic for the alcohol dependent's family to be the one with the proper function rather than just thinking of the dysfunction of it.
