Cadastral discrepancy is a cadastral terminology used for referring to area where mismatch between public land registration managed by the government and actual land boundary occurred. Presently, Korea still is using paper land registration map made in 1910, under the rule of Japanese imperialism, which creates many cadastral discrepancies due to various factors.
Despite of active promotion of the government on corrective measures for reducing the cadastral discrepancies through diversified methods, numbers of corrections made on cadastral discrepancies are minimal. In addition, introduction of cutting edge technologies and methods in cadastral survey sector gave rise to increase in number of areas with cadastral discrepancies.
In order to complement and prevent further increase in land discrepancies, the government is pushing amendment of special law for conducting nationwide cadastral resurvey. However, legislation on such amendment is being delayed by the council. Therefore, the study seeks to propose direction for developing Digital U-Cadastral information System, reflected with regional characteristics and special characteristics per case, by utilizing cases where readjustment project for land discrepancies have been successfully completed.
