Drug addicts are medical patients who must be continuously treated by drugs. The goal of this paper is to explore a religious way keeping drug addicts away both the physical and psychological dependency through spiritual rehabilitation.
In this context this study is concentrated on some policy implications which can reach to a way for a spiritual recovery in compared with the approaches of some existing treatments in drug addiction. To do these this paper is summarized as follows: the chapter I explains the goal and range of this study.
The chapter II addresses the concept of drugs as well as the biological, psychological, and socio-cultural perspectives in understanding of drug addiction.
The chapter III explores the conceptual explanation on methods of drug treatment in Korea as well as in some foreign countries. In addition, this chapter discusses that the existing treatment process of drug addition overemphasized on the biological and physical approaches. In order to make for the weak points in such methods, this paper is to offer a new theological paradigm stressing on the importance and meaningness of both body and soul of the human being.
As a result, drug addicts are able to be ultimately rehabilitated in physically and spiritually.
The chapter IV discusses that the inner treatment in the theological approach is same to the rehabilitation of human lifes. For the theological approach this paper is to emphasize the importance of the psychological analyses studied by Carl G. Jung and Jay E. Adams. To do realize such theological paradigm for treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, this study offers a special center for drug treatment program.
The final chapter suggests that the most importance factor is a will of the human being in the process of treatment and rehabilitation for drug addiction.
