This study was conducted with the aim of finding ways to enhance value awareness and interest as well as convergence literacy in social studies education for learners. To this end, the STEAM education program was developed and applied to increase students' interest in problem-solving and career choices in the future society and enhance their capabilities by utilizing the convergence with advanced science/technology called drones, focusing on social studies education. This program was applied to 47 fifth grade students at W Elementary School located in Ohio, USA, who are actively using STEAM education in school. The study has shown that the use of drones in social studies education has a positive influence on students' understanding of human-nature interactions and career choices, which have been geographic learning elements. It was also confirmed that it has a significant effect on items related to interest, value, self-concept, and self-efficacy in STEAM education. Interestingly, it was found that it has no significant effect on items related to communication skills such as caring and understanding, which stems from the fact that students who have already experienced STEAM education responded positively to items related to communication skills at a high rate in the pre-test. To sum up, the STEAM education program presented in this study is said to have sufficient effectiveness in terms of teaching and learning methodology in preparation for the future society. In addition, it can be a practical research case for revitalizing education using 4th industrial technology including drones, focusing on social studies education. Furthermore, it is expected to be used as one of the meaningful teaching and learning methods at a time when interest in human-nature interactions and educational demands are increasing due to recent environmental problems.
