A city tells a story. Urban fieldwork is an important process for geography education. City itself is a text which can be felt and recognized through the walking of streets and utilizing the sense of sight, hearing and smell. For the practice of this method on urban fieldwork this research attempted to use qualitative approach based on multi-sensory experience to preservice teachers instead of the use of longstanding traditional fieldwork which was focused on the functions and structures of urban space for the geography class. This method of fieldwork provides diverse experiences of city space for the students such as sense of place, tension and esthetic appreciation. Through a range of creative approaches including poetry, an emotional map and creative writing, through such collaboration, rich opportunities for learning about place were realised. This method brought about some kinds of unfamiliar recognition and response for the fieldwork, but elevated the feeling of new trial, creativity, partnership, and also curiosity. This research thus revealed the fact that multi-sensory based experience was an very important way for geography education to understand and express the meaning and symbol of city space.
