The purpose of this article is to analyze and evaluate the Korean fandom of Taiwanese dramas in the past two decades, so as to overcome the ignorance of Taiwan and Asia, and to reveal the multiplicity of Asian media. Taiwanese dramas such as Meteor Garden with the boy band “F4” as its main actors and Poor Prince Taro have caused the fandom in South Korea and East Asia. This article is significant in that it contextually examines the evolution of the Taiwanese Wave in South Korea and other Asian countries and explores the cultural meanings inherent in the consumption of Taiwanese drama and implications of media use. This article is expected to contribute to offering insight into the prospects on the evolution of supranational cultural phenomena across East Asia in recent years.
