동서고금의 많은 예술가들은 자연을 관찰하고 사유하면서 자연의 형태, 움직임, 색, 공간, 질감, 빛 등을 연구하고 이를 조형화한다. 최근 들어서 많은 작가들은 이런 조형화법에서 벗어나 실제 자연의 요소가 되는 물, 불과 빛, 흙, 공기, 금속, 나무와 숲을 활용해 작품을 한다. 이런 경향의 미술을 자연미술 대지미술이라고 하며, 경우에 따라 오브제를 이용하기도 한다. 현재 미술계의 큰 흐름을 나타내는 자연미술은 학교교육에서 미술교과와 타 교과와의 연계를 통해 통합수업으로 적용가능하다. 특히 자연미술수업은 체험학습으로서 창의적 인재육성 차원에서 학생들의 창의력, 상상력, 미적감수성을 키워주는 학습활동이다. 이 연구에서는 자연미술을 중심으로 한국과 외국 작가의 작품세계를 조명하고, 이를 수업에 적용하기 위한 교육목표와 교수 학습방법을 논의하며, 학교주변의 나무와 숲을 이용한 자연미술수업의 가능성과 활용방안을 제시한다.If we look through the art history, it is true that many artists depict the theme with nature. They study hard the nature's form, movement, color, space, texture and light by observing, exploring and speculating the nature. And they put together and modeling them to make own works. Recently the art world trends are changed rapidly. Nowdays many artists try to use raw materials such as water, fire, light, earth, air, mineral and woods which are the elements of nature. This kind of art works are so called nature art or earth art that they sometimes use object.
Nature art takes big stream in the postmodernism art world. School art curriculum should consider nature art seriously which open students' eye more widely in post-modern era how artists make their own works. For Nature art, art teachers can make interesting art lessons integrating art and other subjects together. Especially, Nature art contribute to develop students' own creativity, imagination and aesthetic sensibility.
For this study, we deal with several things focusing on nature art. first of all, we examine korean and foreign artists and their art works in post-modern era. Second, we discuss the aims and teaching methods of nature art in school art curriculum. Third, we apply the nature art to elementary and secondary art class. For art activities, we take students to the woods area nearby school. We stimulate students' ideas and encourage them to use logs, branches, leaves and trees. Students gradually understand what is nature art. Most of students who participate this activities they are excited and show high interests. Elementary and secondary school art curriculum should consider nature art seriously and develop art lessons more variously in dynamic way.
