The study on the peonies of Sochi Heo-ryeon, which formed Korea's painting style and still has a lot of influence on future generations, can be seen as of great significance. Sochi Heo Ryeon was born in the reign of King Sunjo in 1808, lived a long life at that age during the reign of King Gojong in 1893, and died at the age of 86.
In this paper, I would like to first look at the life and background of Sochi Heo Ryeon, the pioneer and master of Korean painting. Then I'd like to look at Heo Ryeon's life. Third, I want to analyze Heo Ryeon's famous for "painting of Peony". Finally, I would like to examine the influence on future generations through empty feelings.
In the early days, Heo Ryeon was only an aspiring artist because she had no proper teacher, but after meeting Kim Jeong-hee and taking painting classes. Heo Ryeon was one of the representative Namjong painters of the late Joseon Dynasty and played an important role in fixing Namjong style to the flower bed.
There are many people who influenced the world of painting during this period, but I tried to deive into there are four main categories. First, Choui Seonsa, second, Kim Jeong-hee, who was his teacher, and third, Yeohang Munja, who had been associated with Heo Ryeon, and fourth, the Great Master of Literature.
Sochi Heo Ryeon's works are so many and diverse, but among them, I analyzed Heo Ryeon's paintings under the theme of "Peony." In this paper, through the analysis of Morando, the analysis was performed in consideration of the writing method, composition, characteristics, etc. drawn by Heo Ryeon. Among the studies on Heo Ryeon, only studies on the painting world, Maehwado Island, Sansu, Muninhwa, and Honam Local Flower Group are being conducted. However, research on Morando Island has not been conducted, so it can be seen as significant.
The influence of Sochi Heo Ryeon's paintings on future generations was mainly considered by his descendants. Many painters were produced in Jindo, his hometown. Heo Ryeon's style of painting was inherited by his descendants Heo Hyung, Heo Geon, and Heo Baek-ryeon. Through these, we learned how Heo Ryeon's descendants were connected. To understand Korean paintings, people should start Korean paintings and feel its style after devouring works of So-chi Heo Ryeon first.
Our Korean paintings have gradually declined. The only way to overcome this is to understand and develop works of So-chi Heo Ryeon. If we do that, Korean paintings would certainly develop constantly beyond present Chinese paintings.
