The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors influencing on satisfaction and continuation of the voluntary activities for disabled person, and to offer the discussion on establishing the effective management system and the way to promote voluntary activities based on this study. disabled person
For this study, the survey was performed through volunteers who experienced voluntary services in social welfare organizations in Chungchongbuk-Do. The statistical data was obtained through frequency analysis, T-test One-way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Analysis, and Hierarchical Multiple Regressing Analysis of SPSS/WiN 12.0 Program.
The main result of this study is summarized as follows.
First, the general characteristics of the inspecting group show that more women participated in voluntary activities for the challenged than men do.
Second, looking into current voluntary activities, the majority of participants are doing voluntary activities for over two years, and the frequency of voluntary activities is once a week. Also, Most of them participate through friends or acquaintance and it is the most reason that the motive of voluntary service is interest in the challenged. The type of voluntary service is the most of small group, and the most of them act for crippled disorder. Moreover, the most content of voluntary service is the rehabilitation.
Third, the satisfaction index of volunteer for their activites was the average 3.65 point on a 4.5 scale, and the need satisfaction of achievement is highest in subordinate.
Fourth, the satisfaction index of them in social welfare organs was 3.45 point on 5.0 scale, and the colleagueship with 4.04 point was highest, and the satisfaction of recognition and reward was the lowest with 3.17 point.
Fifth, the score of disability factor is 3.45 point on 6.0 scale, and when they touch with disabled person interaction strain with 4.10 is highest.
Sixth, to analyze factors influencing on satisfaction of voluntary activities, as a result that it is assumed that independent variables are the demographic characteristics, the factors of organs, and disability factor, and when it is unmarried, it is viewed that the satisfaction index is the highest, and the more satisfaction of relationship with organs officer, recognition and reward, the higher satisfaction index is.
Seventh, to analyze factors influencing on satisfaction of voluntary activities, as a result that it is assumed that independent variables are the demographic characteristics, the factors of organs, and disability factor, it is demonstrated that the ages influenced on consistency.
Discussion on the way of establishing the effective management system and promoting voluntary activities based on this study is as follows.
First, in this study, the most important factor that influenced on doing voluntary activities for disabled person is the relationship with organs officer.
In order for volunteers to maintain positive relationships with organs officer, social workers who are in charge of assigning volunteers need trainings at organs level, through this, they should provide with an assertive and quick feedback to difficulties that volunteers may face performing the voluntary activities.
Also, it needs that arrangement of task corresponds with volunteers' desire and organs assigns the number of social workers exclusively responsible for voluntary service for high satisfaction of voluntary activities.
And developing program which trains social workers exclusively responsible for volunteers for disabled person is needed because attitude of organs' staff may influence on volunteers.
Second, volunteers should be offered suitable rewards they want, and the rewards should be individualized according to the differences among individuals using various recognition and rewards as they feel satisfied through recognition and rewards.
Third, if this study that is the older age of the volunteers and the more influencing durability of the voluntary activity for disabled person person appeared is used to recruit and promote recruitment of volunteers, this study will help continuous utilization of volunteers and management, too.
To sum up, in order for organs officers to promote voluntary activities for the challenged, the most important thing is their efforts to manage volunteers well.
We should realize that volunteers are not assistants but companions and prepare the programs to manage them. We should also make great efforts to offer an effective and satisfactory service to disabled person people who use it.
