The rapid change in the composition of population has a ripple effect on the whole community. Low birthrate and the aging society, recently, is on the rise as a serious social issues around the world. In addition, the changes in the structure of industry and economy as well as the formation of the society and population have a profound effect on the role of women in their social and economic activities.
Compare to other countries, Korea is experiencing in the low level of birthrate and rapid aging, and also social and economic role of women is faced with the considerable changes. The improved role of women's social and economic activities is, nowadays, apparently due to the changes such as increasing social awareness for gender-equality, eradicating gender discrimination, growing demands for female labor mainly caused by sharply declining birth rate and rapidly aging population.
Moreover, today's society, knowledge and information society, do not require physical strength but need delicate, flexible, and elaborated ability which would be generally classified as women's characteristics. Thus specialized and efficient utilization in developing the women resources is highlighted as controversial issues not only to help individuals, namely female, achieve social success but also to boost the nation's competitive power. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate the current state and problems of utilizing women labor resources in this rapid low birthrate and aging society and then is to expected to provide policy implications on female workforce development.
This study is covered as follows:
In Chapter2, the theoretical background in utilizing labor force of women, this research is to investigate not only the concept and social problems on low fertility and aging population, the meaning and necessity of using women workforce in the society, the type and methodology for women labor resources, and the consideration of female labor resources in major foreign countries, but also to review the precedent study on the women labor resources.
In Chapter3, the present condition of utilizing in women workforce, the current state and issues on utilizing and improving women labor resources were mainly handled in the chapter.
In Chapter4, seeking to make use of women workforce, the outcomes from looking into the chapter3 were deeply treated to suggest the ways of utilizing and developing women labor resources.
In Chapter5, the research is to sum up and present the critical point on the study.
